MUFG Partners With InvestStream For Digital Advice

MUFG Retirement has announced plans to partner with InvestStream to create a connected approach to member engagement and support super funds to deliver digital advice.

This strategic collaboration aims to address the evolving needs of the superannuation sector by establishing a more cohesive technological framework. By supporting a connected environment, the initiative seeks to enhance how funds interact with their members, ensuring that digital tools are not standalone utilities but are integrated parts of a broader service model. The focus is on creating a seamless flow of information that supports the delivery of advice at scale.

The firm, which is a division of MUFG Pension & Market Services, will partner with InvestStream, a newly-launched provider of financial modelling and engagement technology set up by former Xplan co-founder Jason Hoang.

The background of InvestStream’s founder is a critical component of this partnership. As a former co-founder of Xplan, a prominent platform in the financial advice space, Hoang brings significant experience in developing technology that supports both advisers and end-users. This expertise is channeled into InvestStream’s newly-launched status, positioning the provider as an agile innovator capable of introducing fresh financial modelling and engagement solutions to the market.

The proposed partnership is expected to integrate InvestStream’s SuperAnne™ conversational engagement platform and SUGAI™ financial modelling capabilities with MUFG Retirement Solutions’ administration ecosystem.

This integration represents a technical convergence of distinct capabilities. The SuperAnne™ platform is designed to facilitate conversational engagement, allowing members to interact with their data through dialogue-based interfaces. Meanwhile, SUGAI™ provides the underlying financial modelling engine necessary to generate accurate projections. By embedding these technologies directly into MUFG Retirement Solutions’ administration ecosystem, the partnership ensures that sophisticated tools operate within the core administrative environment rather than functioning as external add-ons.

By bringing together conversational engagement technology, governed financial modelling and core administration capabilities, the proposed partnership aims to reduce complexity, create greater continuity across member interactions and support more informed financial decision-making.

Complexity in retirement systems often arises from disjointed data sources and siloed functionalities. The combination of governed financial modelling with conversational interfaces addresses this by ensuring that the guidance provided is not only interactive but also rooted in compliant, accurate calculations. Greater continuity across interactions means that a member’s journey is not interrupted by technical barriers, allowing for a sustained narrative that supports more informed financial decision-making throughout their retirement planning process.

Once in place, it intends to enable member interactions, financial modelling and adviser workflows to operate from a connected technology environment, improving continuity between digital engagement and adviser support, reducing duplicated data entry and providing funds with a streamlined way to deliver personalised member experiences.

The operational benefits of a connected technology environment are significant. By allowing member interactions and adviser workflows to operate on the same platform, the partnership tackles the
