The Institute for Bau-biologie™ and Ecology's Founder and Past-President is Helmut Ziehe, an architect who received his Dipl. Ing. degree from the Technical University of Berlin in 1964, and a post graduate degree in Tropical Architecture at the AA School of Architecture in London. He has worked and lived in a number of European countries, including Sweden, Denmark, Greece, and Great Britain, as well as in Central America and North Africa, before making his home in Clearwater, Florida.

His professional experience, gained both as an employee and as the owner of his own architectural firm, includes the planning of hospitals, hotels, and housing units for small communities, as well as small scale industrial developments. He has been involved with Bau-biologie since 1980, first as a student of Professor Anton Schneider in Germany, and later as the translator of the course into English, and founder of the International Institute for Bau-biologie and Ecology in England in 1984 and in the U.S.A. in 1987.

Mr. Ziehe is available as a speaker on the topics of healthy homes and workplaces.
